本製品は、1950年代のアメリカンワークシャツのデザインをベースに、一般的なブルーシャンブレーとは異なる、生成り調のオフホワイトシャンブレー生地で仕立てられています。ヴィンテージワークウェアに由来するクラシックな構造と実用的なディテールを備えながら、その落ち着いた色調により、現代のカジュアルスタイルにも自然に取り入れやすい一着に仕上げられています。生地は薄手で軽量なため、一枚でシャツとして着用するほか、Tシャツの上から軽く羽織るスタイルや、ジャケットのインナーとしての重ね着にも適しています。

生地は薄手で軽量ですが、柔らかくドレープ感の強いものではなく、適度なハリとコシを備えています。厚手のワークシャツほどの重さやボリュームはありませんが、適度なハリによってワークシャツらしい輪郭を保ちやすい生地感です。着用と洗濯を重ねるにつれて当初のハリが少しずつほぐれ、徐々に身体に馴染んでいきます。
仕上げ工程では、ワンウォッシュ加工が施されています。この処理によって生地の初期的な硬さが適度にほぐされ、着用当初から未洗い生地ほど硬さを感じにくい状態に整えられています。また、あらかじめ洗いをかけることで、未洗いの製品と比べて購入後に生じる大きな初期収縮がある程度抑えられています。ただし、洗濯方法や乾燥条件、洗濯の繰り返しによっては、その後も多少の縮みが生じる場合があります。
着用と洗濯を重ねるにつれて、生地は少しずつしなやかになり、表面のシワ感や織り目の表情も深まっていきます。縫い目の周囲には細かなパッカリングやアタリが現れ、生成り調の穏やかな色合いを背景に、生地と縫製部分の陰影が徐々に際立ちます。濃色生地の退色とは異なる、オフホワイトシャンブレーならではの風合いの変化を楽しめます。

This men's long-sleeve button-up shirt is made in Japan by Sugar Cane, a Toyo Enterprises brand specializing in vintage-inspired American workwear. Based on the design of 1950s American chambray work shirts, this version uses lightweight 100% cotton chambray in an ecru-toned off-white color instead of the conventional blue chambray commonly associated with this style. [How We Measure the Actual Garment]
Width (Chest Width / Half Chest): Lay the garment flat and measure straight across from side to side, approximately 3 cm (about 1.2 in.) below the armholes.
Length (Body Length): Measured from the base of the back collar, where the collar joins the body, straight down to the bottom of the back hem.

Fabric Material:
- The shirt is made from lightweight 100% cotton chambray. Off-white yarns are used in both the lengthwise warp and crosswise weft, creating a unified ecru-toned appearance throughout the fabric.
Off-White Chambray Weave and Yarn Character:
- Conventional blue chambray generally combines blue warp yarns with white weft yarns, producing a blue-toned, heathered appearance as the two yarn colors intersect. On this shirt, off-white yarns are used in both directions. This creates a more consistent natural color while preserving the fine woven texture and subtle variations in light and shadow that characterize chambray. The result is a natural, subdued appearance distinct from conventional blue chambray.
Natural Weave Variation, Neps, and Linen-Like Wrinkling:
- The fabric retains the natural character of the yarns, with slight weave irregularities, fine surface undulation, and small variations in texture visible throughout. Rather than forming a completely flat and mechanically uniform surface, the intersecting yarns create subtle differences in height, tension, and shading.
- Fine brown and nearly black flecks originating from the natural cotton are scattered throughout the ecru-colored yarns. Small neps also appear intermittently where irregular or slightly thicker sections of yarn rise above the surrounding weave.
- Although the fabric is made entirely from cotton, its natural creasing and subtle surface wrinkling can recall the appearance of linen. The combination of woven irregularity, cotton-derived flecks, small neps, and linen-like wrinkles gives the cloth a rustic and slightly rough workwear character rather than the smooth appearance of a highly uniform shirting fabric.
- These characteristics are not stains or fabric defects. They are inherent features of the natural ecru cotton yarns and the woven structure of the chambray. The placement, size, and appearance of the flecks and neps may vary slightly between different areas of the fabric and from one garment to another.
Lightweight Fabric with Moderate Firmness and Body:
- The chambray is thin and lightweight, but it is not exceptionally soft, fluid, or strongly draped. The fabric retains moderate firmness, crispness, and body, allowing it to support the outline of a traditional work shirt without the weight or volume of a heavier work-shirt fabric.
- With repeated wear and laundering, the initial firmness gradually relaxes. The cotton fabric becomes more pliable and conforms more naturally to the wearer while retaining the woven character of the chambray.
One-Wash Finish:
- The completed garment has been given a one-wash finish during the final production stage. This treatment relaxes part of the fabric's initial rigidity, so the chambray feels less stiff at the beginning of wear than it would in a completely unwashed state. The process does not eliminate the moderate firmness and body that define the fabric.
- Because the garment has already been washed once during production, the possibility of substantial initial shrinkage after purchase is reduced to some extent compared with an untreated, unwashed cotton shirt. However, the fabric is not shrink-proof. Slight additional dimensional changes may still occur depending on the washing method, water temperature, drying conditions, frequency of laundering, and individual garment variation.
Changes with Wear and Laundering:
- With continued wear and washing, the cotton chambray gradually becomes more pliable, while the natural creasing and definition of the weave become increasingly pronounced. The fabric develops from its original new-garment condition into a surface and hand that conform more naturally to the wearer.
- Fine puckering and subtle wear-related shading may also develop around the seams. As the fabric contracts and relaxes around the stitched areas, the differences in height and shadow between the chambray and sewing lines become more visible, gradually giving the construction greater dimensional definition.
- Because the fabric is ecru-toned off-white, its development differs from the obvious fading normally associated with dark dyed cloth. Changes appear primarily through increased pliability, deeper woven texture, more defined wrinkles, and subtle shadows around the seams. These characteristics allow the off-white chambray to develop its own distinctive appearance through continued wear and laundering.
Collar Construction:
- The neckline is finished with a standard point collar attached to a separate collar stand. The collar stand supports the base of the collar, adding moderate structure and stability around the neckline while helping the collar maintain its shape during wear. This two-piece construction gives the shirt a more traditional button-front work-shirt appearance than an open-collar or camp-collar design.
Front Placket and Button Closure:
- The shirt has a full-open button-front closure for easy dressing and removal. The two front edges are finished with different constructions. On the wearer's left side, a separately cut placket made from doubled matching fabric is sewn onto the front panel. On the wearer's right side, the front edge is folded inward to create a double layer that serves as both an integrated facing and reinforcement.
- Six buttons are arranged along the front, and the corresponding buttonholes are positioned vertically along the opening. The spacing between the top collar button and the second button is slightly narrower than the spacing between the remaining buttons. Rounded Single-Button Cuffs and Cuff Slits:

Off-White Urea Cat's-Eye Buttons:

- The chambray is thin and lightweight, but it is not exceptionally soft, fluid, or strongly draped. The fabric retains moderate firmness, crispness, and body, allowing it to support the outline of a traditional work shirt without the weight or volume of a heavier work-shirt fabric.
- With repeated wear and laundering, the initial firmness gradually relaxes. The cotton fabric becomes more pliable and conforms more naturally to the wearer while retaining the woven character of the chambray.
One-Wash Finish:
- The completed garment has been given a one-wash finish during the final production stage. This treatment relaxes part of the fabric's initial rigidity, so the chambray feels less stiff at the beginning of wear than it would in a completely unwashed state. - Because the garment has already been washed once during production, the possibility of substantial initial shrinkage after purchase is reduced to some extent compared with an untreated, unwashed cotton shirt. Changes with Wear and Laundering:
- With continued wear and washing, the cotton chambray gradually becomes more pliable, while the natural creasing and definition of the weave become increasingly pronounced. The fabric develops from its original new-garment condition into a surface and hand that conform more naturally to the wearer.
- Fine puckering and subtle wear-related shading may also develop around the seams. As the fabric contracts and relaxes around the stitched areas, the differences in height and shadow between the chambray and sewing lines become more visible, gradually giving the construction greater dimensional definition.
- Because the fabric is ecru-toned off-white, its development differs from the obvious fading normally associated with dark dyed cloth. Changes appear primarily through increased pliability, deeper woven texture, more defined wrinkles, and subtle shadows around the seams. These characteristics allow the off-white chambray to develop its own distinctive appearance through continued wear and laundering.
Collar Construction:
- The neckline is finished with a standard point collar attached to a separate collar stand.
