シルエットは、身頃の広がりを抑え、アームホールも比較的細めにつくられた、やや細身寄りのすっきりとしたフィットです。適度なゆとりを保ちながら自然に身体に沿い、身頃から袖まわりにかけても余分なもたつきを抑えています。着丈は短すぎない適度な長さで、カジュアルな佇まいがありながら、きれいめな着こなしにも馴染むバランスです。通常のジップパーカーとして着用するほか、すっきりとしたシルエットを活かして、ジャケットやアウターのインナーとしても取り入れやすい一着です。

素材には、COZUN小寸編み機で編み立てたスウェット生地を使用しています。COZUN(コズン)は、生地を編み立てる「小寸編み機」に由来する名称です。小寸編み機は、吊り編み機から高速シンカー編み機へと移行する時期に使われていた旧式のシンカー編み機を改良したものです。糸や編地にかかる張力を抑えながら時間をかけて編み立てることで、やわらかな風合いと、スウェットの輪郭を支える適度なハリ・コシを併せ持つ生地に仕上げています。
生地は、綿100%のミディアムウェイト裏起毛スウェットです。薄すぎず、厚すぎない適度な肉厚とやわらかさを備えています。表側に30番手、裏側に7番手の綿糸を使用し、比較的細い表糸と太い裏糸を組み合わせることで、表面の細やかさと裏側のふくらみを持たせた構成です。表面には縦方向に連なる細かな編み目が見られ、編み立てによるわずかなムラや自然な毛羽が、ヴィンテージスウェットを思わせる素朴な表情を生み出しています。裏面には起毛加工が施されており、ふっくらとしたやわらかな肌触りを備えています。起毛した繊維の間に空気を含むことで、保温性にも寄与しています。

フロントには、2つのスライダーを備えた逆開ファスナー(ダブルジップ仕様)を採用しています。通常のシングルジップとは異なり、ファスナーを閉じた状態から、上側だけでなく裾側からも開き具合を調節できます。特に、座った際に裾側を少し開けることで、腹部や腰まわりの締め付け感や生地の突っ張りを軽減し、より快適に着用できます。また、生地が無理に引っ張られるのを抑えることで、生地への負担を和らげることにもつながります。裾側を開けてインナーを部分的に見せるなど、好みに合わせて着こなしに変化をつけることもできます。

This men's long-sleeve zip-up hoodie is made in Japan by Barns Outfitters as part of its COZUN series. Drawing on the practical construction of classic American athletic wear and vintage sweatshirts, the design brings together carefully developed fabric, knitting, stitching, and functional garment details. Its medium-weight 100% cotton sweatshirt fabric is knitted on COZUN small-diameter knitting machines. These machines are modified versions of older sinker knitting machines that were used during the transition from traditional loopwheel machines to high-speed sinker knitting machines. The name COZUN comes from the Japanese term for these small-diameter machines. By knitting slowly while limiting tension on the yarn and the developing fabric, this process produces a soft, supple hand together with moderate firmness and body. This balance gives the fabric a comfortable, yielding feel while providing enough structure to support the hoodie's outline. The reverse is brushed to create a soft, full interior, with the raised cotton fibers holding air and contributing to warmth. A two-way front zipper, double-layer hood, rib-knit underarm gussets, extended cuffs and waistband, and visible flatseam stitching give the plain design its distinctive character. The hoodie has a slightly slim, streamlined fit, with a body that does not flare outward and relatively close-cut armholes. It follows the body naturally while retaining moderate ease, limiting excess fabric through the torso and sleeves. The body length is moderate rather than especially cropped, giving it proportions that work with both casual outfits and a cleaner, more put-together style.
Set-in sleeves create a defined shoulder line. The deep rib-knit waistband draws the lower body inward only gently, allowing the fabric to fall naturally from the torso to the hem without a strongly cinched waist. [How We Measure the Actual Garment]
Width (Chest Width / Half Chest): Lay the garment flat and measure straight across from side to side, approximately 3cm (about 1.2 in.) below the underarms.
Length (Body Length): Measured from the center back at the seam where the hood joins the body, straight down to the bottom edge of the rib-knit waistband. The hood is not included in this measurement.
Sleeve (Center-Back Sleeve Length): The first sleeve measurement is taken from the center back at the seam where the hood joins the body, across the shoulder, and down to the end of the cuff.

COZUN Small-Diameter Knitting
The sweatshirt fabric is knitted on a COZUN small-diameter knitting machine. The name COZUN comes from the Japanese term for this type of small-diameter machine. Its construction is based on a modified older sinker knitting machine of the type used during the transition from loopwheel machines to modern high-speed sinker knitting equipment.
The fabric is knitted slowly while limiting tension on the yarn and the developing knit. This process produces a soft hand together with moderate firmness and body. The softness allows the material to settle comfortably against the wearer, while its underlying structure helps support the outline of the hoodie.
Medium-Weight 100% Cotton Sweatshirt Fabric with 30/7 Yarn Construction
The fabric is a medium-weight sweatshirt knit made from 100% cotton. It has a moderate thickness and a soft feel, balancing substance with flexibility. The construction uses No. 30 cotton yarn on the face and thicker No. 7 cotton yarn on the reverse. The relatively fine face yarn forms the more finely textured outer surface, while the thicker backing yarn contributes fullness to the interior.
Fine columns of knit stitches run vertically along the face. Slight variations in the knitted surface and the natural fuzz of the cotton give the fabric a subtle, irregular texture reminiscent of vintage sweatshirts. This surface character comes from the yarn and knitting rather than an added printed pattern.
Soft Brushed Interior
The reverse of the sweatshirt fabric is brushed to raise the cotton fibers into a soft, full surface. This gives the inside a cushioned feel against the body and distinguishes it from an unbrushed sweatshirt knit.
The raised fibers create small spaces that hold air within the brushed surface, contributing to warmth. The resulting fabric combines a relatively fine outer face with a fuller interior, maintaining the moderate overall thickness of a medium-weight sweatshirt.
One-Wash Finish
The hoodie is washed once during finishing. This initial wash softens the fabric's crispness while retaining moderate body, giving it a more settled feel from the first wear. Compared with an unwashed garment, it is less prone to substantial initial shrinkage because it has already undergone a wash before sale.
The finish does not eliminate the possibility of further dimensional change. As a 100% cotton knitted garment, it may still shrink slightly or change in size depending on subsequent washing and drying conditions and differences between individual garments. With continued wear and washing, the fabric gradually settles further and develops a more naturally worn-in texture.
Two-Way Front Zipper
The front uses a two-way zipper with two sliders. Once the zipper is fastened, the upper slider allows the opening at the chest and neckline to be adjusted, while the lower slider allows the front to open upward from the hem.
Opening the lower section slightly when seated gives the fabric more room around the abdomen and hips. This can reduce tightness and pulling in the lower body, improving comfort and limiting strain on the fabric where it would otherwise be drawn taut.
The lower opening also allows part of an underlying shirt to show while the upper section remains closed. The two sliders therefore provide control over both the way the hoodie sits on the body and the appearance of the front opening.
Double-Layer Hood with a Center Seam and No Drawcord
The hood uses two layers of the same sweatshirt fabric as the body. The layers are arranged so that the fabric's face is visible on both the outside and the inside of the hood. The brushed reverse surfaces sit between the layers, leaving the finer knitted face exposed on either side.
The left and right hood sections are joined along a vertical center seam to create a shaped, three-dimensional form. The combined thickness of the two layers and the center seam help support the hood's outline, allowing it to stand naturally around the back of the neck and retain a defined shape.
The opening is made without a drawcord. This keeps the front edge visually simple, allowing the doubled fabric and shaped construction to define the hood's appearance.
Set-In Sleeves with One-Piece Sleeve Bodies
The long sleeves use a set-in construction, with each sleeve cap sewn into the corresponding armhole in the body. The resulting shoulder and armhole seams define the transition between the torso and sleeve, giving the upper body a neat outline.
Each main sleeve section is made from a single fabric panel whose edges are joined along the underside of the arm to form a tube. This lengthwise underarm seam closes the sleeve body, while the cuff is attached as a separate rib-knit component at the wrist.
Stretch Rib-Knit Underarm Gussets
A separate rib-knit gusset is inserted at each underarm where the sleeve joins the body. The gusset is sewn to the surrounding panels, creating a section of more flexible fabric at the sleeve attachment.
As the arms are raised or extended forward, the rib knit stretches with the movement. This helps ease pulling around the base of the sleeve and supplements freedom of movement through the armhole. Its role is particularly useful in a hoodie with relatively close-cut armholes, where a flexible junction helps accommodate movement without adding broad overall volume.
Extended Double-Layer Rib-Knit Cuffs
The cuffs use rib knit produced separately from the main sweatshirt fabric. Each cuff is folded back on itself to form a double layer, then sewn to the end of the sleeve. The folded construction gives the wrist opening a defined edge, while the rib knit provides stretch.
The knit becomes finer toward the cuff edge from the seam where the cuff meets the sleeve. Together with the elasticity of the rib structure, this helps the cuff conform comfortably around the wrist.
The cuffs are longer than those commonly found on standard sweatshirts, covering a greater area around the wrists. Their close, flexible fit helps limit the entry of cold air through the sleeve openings, while their extended proportions contribute to the hoodie's vintage athletic-wear appearance.
Deep Double-Layer Rib-Knit Waistband
The lower body is finished with a comparatively deep rib-knit waistband. As with the cuffs, the rib knit is folded into a double layer and sewn to the main sweatshirt body, creating a substantial but flexible lower edge.
The waistband has greater stretch than the main fabric, allowing it to follow the waist and help the hem sit securely. Its inward pull is restrained, so it does not strongly cinch the lower body. Instead, the silhouette falls naturally from the torso toward the hem, preserving the hoodie's relatively clean, straight-looking lower profile.
Split Kangaroo-Style Patch Pockets
Two kangaroo-style patch pockets sit at the lower front, one on each side of the zipper. Each pocket is made from a separate piece of the same sweatshirt fabric, laid over and stitched to the outside of the body. The space between the pocket panel and the body forms the storage compartment.
The left and right pockets are separate compartments. Each has an angled opening at its outer side, positioned to allow the hand to enter naturally from the side. In addition to holding small items, the pockets can be used as hand warmers.
The edges of the openings are turned back and secured with stitching. This reinforces the pocket mouths where repeated hand entry places stress on the fabric. The openings are relatively broad, so please take care that items do not fall out.
The inner edges follow the line of the front zipper, and the lower edges extend to the junction between the body and the rib-knit waistband. Their symmetrical placement and slanted openings create the recognizable front arrangement associated with classic athletic hoodies.
Flatseamer Construction for Low-Profile Seams
The main components are joined with flatlock seams sewn on a flatseamer. Compared with constructions that leave raised seam allowances on the inside, this method keeps the junctions relatively flat and limits abrupt changes in thickness where the fabric sections meet.
Controlling these junctions helps reduce bulky ridges against the body at sewn areas such as the sides, shoulders, armholes, underarm gussets, sleeve undersides, cuffs, pockets, and waistband. The construction allows the sweatshirt to retain its fabric thickness while keeping the seams less prominent against the wearer.
Visible Stitching That Outlines the Garment Structure

素材には、COZUN小寸編み機で編み立てたスウェット生地を使用しています。COZUN(コズン)は、生地を編み立てる「小寸編み機」に由来する名称です。小寸編み機は、吊り編み機から高速シンカー編み機へと移行する時期に使われていた旧式のシンカー編み機を改良したものです。糸や編地にかかる張力を抑えながら時間をかけて編み立てることで、やわらかな風合いと、スウェットの輪郭を支える適度なハリ・コシを併せ持つ生地に仕上げています。
生地は、綿100%のミディアムウェイト裏起毛スウェットです。薄すぎず、厚すぎない適度な肉厚とやわらかさを備えています。表側に30番手、裏側に7番手の綿糸を使用し、比較的細い表糸と太い裏糸を組み合わせることで、表面の細やかさと裏側のふくらみを持たせた構成です。表面には縦方向に連なる細かな編み目が見られ、編み立てによるわずかなムラや自然な毛羽が、ヴィンテージスウェットを思わせる素朴な表情を生み出しています。裏面には起毛加工が施されており、ふっくらとしたやわらかな肌触りを備えています。起毛した繊維の間に空気を含むことで、保温性にも寄与しています。

Its medium-weight 100% cotton sweatshirt fabric is knitted on COZUN small-diameter knitting machines. These machines are modified versions of older sinker knitting machines that were used during the transition from traditional loopwheel machines to high-speed sinker knitting machines. The name COZUN comes from the Japanese term for these small-diameter machines. By knitting slowly while limiting tension on the yarn and the developing fabric, this process produces a soft, supple hand together with moderate firmness and body. It follows the body naturally while retaining moderate ease, limiting excess fabric through the torso and sleeves. Width (Chest Width / Half Chest): Lay the garment flat and measure straight across from side to side, approximately 3cm (about 1.2 in.) below the underarms.

COZUN Small-Diameter Knitting
The sweatshirt fabric is knitted on a COZUN small-diameter knitting machine. The name COZUN comes from the Japanese term for this type of small-diameter machine. Its construction is based on a modified older sinker knitting machine of the type used during the transition from loopwheel machines to modern high-speed sinker knitting equipment.
The fabric is knitted slowly while limiting tension on the yarn and the developing knit. This process produces a soft hand together with moderate firmness and body. The softness allows the material to settle comfortably against the wearer, while its underlying structure helps support the outline of the hoodie.
Medium-Weight 100% Cotton Sweatshirt Fabric with 30/7 Yarn Construction
The fabric is a medium-weight sweatshirt knit made from 100% cotton. It has a moderate thickness and a soft feel, balancing substance with flexibility. The construction uses No. 30 cotton yarn on the face and thicker No. 7 cotton yarn on the reverse. The relatively fine face yarn forms the more finely textured outer surface, while the thicker backing yarn contributes fullness to the interior.
Fine columns of knit stitches run vertically along the face. Slight variations in the knitted surface and the natural fuzz of the cotton give the fabric a subtle, irregular texture reminiscent of vintage sweatshirts. This surface character comes from the yarn and knitting rather than an added printed pattern.
Soft Brushed Interior
The reverse of the sweatshirt fabric is brushed to raise the cotton fibers into a soft, full surface. This gives the inside a cushioned feel against the body and distinguishes it from an unbrushed sweatshirt knit.

The finish does not eliminate the possibility of further dimensional change. As a 100% cotton knitted garment, it may still shrink slightly or change in size depending on subsequent washing and drying conditions and differences between individual garments. With continued wear and washing, the fabric gradually settles further and develops a more naturally worn-in texture.
Two-Way Front Zipper
The front uses a two-way zipper with two sliders. Once the zipper is fastened, the upper slider allows the opening at the chest and neckline to be adjusted, while the lower slider allows the front to open upward from the hem.
Opening the lower section slightly when seated gives the fabric more room around the abdomen and hips. This can reduce tightness and pulling in the lower body, improving comfort and limiting strain on the fabric where it would otherwise be drawn taut.
The lower opening also allows part of an underlying shirt to show while the upper section remains closed. The two sliders therefore provide control over both the way the hoodie sits on the body and the appearance of the front opening.
Double-Layer Hood with a Center Seam and No Drawcord
The hood uses two layers of the same sweatshirt fabric as the body. The layers are arranged so that the fabric's face is visible on both the outside and the inside of the hood. The brushed reverse surfaces sit between the layers, leaving the finer knitted face exposed on either side.
The left and right hood sections are joined along a vertical center seam to create a shaped, three-dimensional form. The combined thickness of the two layers and the center seam help support the hood's outline, allowing it to stand naturally around the back of the neck and retain a defined shape.
The opening is made without a drawcord. This keeps the front edge visually simple, allowing the doubled fabric and shaped construction to define the hood's appearance.
Set-In Sleeves with One-Piece Sleeve Bodies
The long sleeves use a set-in construction, with each sleeve cap sewn into the corresponding armhole in the body. The resulting shoulder and armhole seams define the transition between the torso and sleeve, giving the upper body a neat outline.
Each main sleeve section is made from a single fabric panel whose edges are joined along the underside of the arm to form a tube. This lengthwise underarm seam closes the sleeve body, while the cuff is attached as a separate rib-knit component at the wrist.
Stretch Rib-Knit Underarm Gussets
A separate rib-knit gusset is inserted at each underarm where the sleeve joins the body. The gusset is sewn to the surrounding panels, creating a section of more flexible fabric at the sleeve attachment.
As the arms are raised or extended forward, the rib knit stretches with the movement. This helps ease pulling around the base of the sleeve and supplements freedom of movement through the armhole. Its role is particularly useful in a hoodie with relatively close-cut armholes, where a flexible junction helps accommodate movement without adding broad overall volume.
Extended Double-Layer Rib-Knit Cuffs
The cuffs use rib knit produced separately from the main sweatshirt fabric. Each cuff is folded back on itself to form a double layer, then sewn to the end of the sleeve. The folded construction gives the wrist opening a defined edge, while the rib knit provides stretch.
The knit becomes finer toward the cuff edge from the seam where the cuff meets the sleeve. Together with the elasticity of the rib structure, this helps the cuff conform comfortably around the wrist.

The waistband has greater stretch than the main fabric, allowing it to follow the waist and help the hem sit securely. Its inward pull is restrained, so it does not strongly cinch the lower body. Instead, the silhouette falls naturally from the torso toward the hem, preserving the hoodie's relatively clean, straight-looking lower profile.
Split Kangaroo-Style Patch Pockets
Two kangaroo-style patch pockets sit at the lower front, one on each side of the zipper. Each pocket is made from a separate piece of the same sweatshirt fabric, laid over and stitched to the outside of the body. The space between the pocket panel and the body forms the storage compartment.
The left and right pockets are separate compartments. Each has an angled opening at its outer side, positioned to allow the hand to enter naturally from the side. In addition to holding small items, the pockets can be used as hand warmers.
The edges of the openings are turned back and secured with stitching. This reinforces the pocket mouths where repeated hand entry places stress on the fabric. The openings are relatively broad, so please take care that items do not fall out.
The inner edges follow the line of the front zipper, and the lower edges extend to the junction between the body and the rib-knit waistband. Their symmetrical placement and slanted openings create the recognizable front arrangement associated with classic athletic hoodies.
Flatseamer Construction for Low-Profile Seams
The main components are joined with flatlock seams sewn on a flatseamer. Compared with constructions that leave raised seam allowances on the inside, this method keeps the junctions relatively flat and limits abrupt changes in thickness where the fabric sections meet.
Controlling these junctions helps reduce bulky ridges against the body at sewn areas such as the sides, shoulders, armholes, underarm gussets, sleeve undersides, cuffs, pockets, and waistband.
