These men's khaki chino trousers are made in Japan by TOYS McCOY as a reproduction of the screen costume worn by Steve McQueen as Captain Virgil Hilts in The Great Escape. The design takes U.S. military chino trousers as its foundation while focusing specifically on the slimmer proportions, distinctive cut, and details of the trousers prepared for McQueen's appearance in the film. Unlike the roomier, utility-oriented silhouettes commonly associated with U.S. military chino trousers of the World War II era, the trousers seen on McQueen in the film are said to have been modified at his request for a cleaner, more streamlined appearance. For this reason, this model is not intended as a direct reproduction of a particular period-issued military specification. Instead, it recreates the screen costume itself, which was based on U.S. military chinos but altered to suit McQueen's preferred silhouette and the visual requirements of the film. Our model is wearing a tagged size 30. He is 5'9" (175 cm) tall, weighs approximately 130 lbs (59 kg), and has a chest measurement of approximately 36" (91 cm). His usual jeans size is 29.

Fit: These trousers have a slim straight fit, a standard mid rise, a flat front without pleats, and a button-fly closure. The seat and thighs have a more streamlined shape than traditional wide military chinos, while retaining room for everyday movement. [How We Measure the Actual Garment]

The garment is laid flat, face up, and measured by hand with a measuring tape.

Waist: Measure straight across the top of the waistband from side to side, then double that measurement to obtain the full waist measurement.

Inseam: Measure from the crotch seam down to the bottom of the leg along the inside seam.

Front Rise: Measure straight from the crotch seam, where the inseams meet, up to the top edge of the front waistband.

Thigh: Measure the width of one leg approximately 3 cm (1.2") below the crotch seam, straight across from one side to the other.

Leg Opening: Measure straight across the bottom hem of one leg from one side to the other. This is the flat width of the opening.
